Thousands of aspiring health professionals nationwide will be able to train for careers in health care using virtual reality simulations thanks to a new Virtual Healthcare Clinic launched this week by immersive learning startup Transfr. The virtual simulations are designed to equip learners with the foundational knowledge and skills to prepare them for apprenticeships and jobs in the fast-growing healthcare sector, which is facing a nationwide shortage of qualified workers.

Now in its 12th year, Camp Bruce is held once a year for ISU first-year graduate students studying speech pathology.

The camp connects the students with non-verbal children, using devices to instruct them in augmentative and alternative communication, or AAC. The weeklong program concluded last week.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.– Two speech-language pathologists are providing speech therapy on wheels.

The Chatterbus travels to different areas and catches the eye of school-aged children with its monkey bars, tent, swing, crafts and more, all used to give speech therapy. Suzanne Howard’s sons came home from school one day, and she knew she had to learn more.

“My sons came home and talked about the fun little things they did on the Chatterbus — they didn’t even talk about school that day,” Howard said.
